Everybody knows that FIFA is rotten to the bone but the chances of  a real reform are slim.
That’s why the big football nations need to break loose from FIFA and orchestrate an alternative and a better world cup.
England, Spain, France, Germany, Portugal, Holland and other European countries together with the USA and maybe Mexico should form their own body and sell the TV and sponsorship rights for the tournament they can organize in the summers of 2018 and 2022.
Argentina and Brazil will be more problematic to bring to the table but bringing Japan and China in will be a masterstroke that will leave FIFA with Qatar, Trinidad & Tobago. Good luck in trying to sell the TV rights for Djibouti VS New Zealand or Russia VS Chile.
Governments and sponsors can’t reform FIFA. The big football nations can and should. Threaten FIFA with a breakaway tournament!
