Diego Forlan is a surplus to requirements at a really big team. When he played for one at Manchester United he was not needed as playmaker or goal scorer – others were better at that. And big team players don’t need someone to provide them with self belief.
At Uruguay all this is needed. You can almost feel the belief growing around Forlan when plays. I personally felt this when watching him from the the stands in the African winter of 2010. And even a year on and on telly – against an extra Argentinean and a home field ref – you feel the belief in Forlan. A one-off.

Lionel Messi is definitely a one-off. But it is clear: at Barcelona he is feeding of belief created by others.
WHAT TO DO NOW?
