What Makes Messi Great

You can take the Messi out of Barca, but you can't take the Barca out of the Messi

There are no more words to describe Leo Messi. He is definitely a martian; a magical creature; no one can explain his sorcery. He is the big star from planet Sorex46G.

However, I would like to remind everyone that football is a team sport and Messi’s “great” secret is that he fully understands it.

What makes him so great is the fact that he is an essential organ of the greatest organic team of all times. What makes him so good is the fact that he “sacrifices” his individual skills to be a “cog-wheel” in the greatest football machine ever.

In many ways, he is “just” the guy who scores for a device that is designed specifically for his scoring talents.

He is the  firing pin of an M16; he is the stinger of a bee; he is the caffeine in the coffee; he is the cheese on the pizza. Without Barcelona around him he is a firing pin without a M16; he is a stinger without a bee; he is caffeine without coffee; he is cheese without pizza.

This might explain why he is just OK for Argentina (26 goals in 67 games) and not awesome like when he plays with the other parts of the machine, that he is designed to excel for.

In short, you can take the Messi out of Barcelona, but you can’t take the Barca out of the Messi.
