The Lock

No Italian Catenaccio have strangled international football so fatally

Spain. Formidable

From the 51th  minute until the penalty in the 89th minute, Spain did not take a single shot at goal against a very weak France.

Wait, Xavi’s attempted shot from 22 meters in the 69th minute was blocked, so let’s not dismiss completely Spain’s intent to score more than one goal.

It is fair to say that Spain’s win was never in real doubt.

No Italian Catenaccio, no German team in their most cynical times, have strangled international football so fatally.
