“it’s impossible he would play for another Premier League side that wasn’t Arsenal,” said Bob van Persie, Robin’s father. The wife, of Wayne Rooney’s new partner, Bouchra said: ’Arsenal believed in Robin when he was young and when he was considered as a bit of a rebel. I also love it that everyone at Arsenal respects him. At the training ground, at the stadium, his teammates, the fans.”
His mom added: ’Arsenal have no debts and Robin is idolised there.’
If Robin’s family couldn’t convince him to stay at Arsenal, the manager who stood by him since he brought him to London as a L’enfant terrible had no chance. His teammates and best friends couldn’t make him stay either. So, the thousands of fans who sang his name every game, protected him on Twitter and Facebook and LOVED him were the last thing on his mind.
The decent thing for Van Persie to do was to stay at Arsenal and fight for the club, the manager and the fans who showed him nothing but support and love. I think even he knows it deep inside.
However, when it comes down to decision time, players don’t give a shit about that.
