I won’t say Jonjo Shelvey is stupid. He’s a young player and older players make mistakes as well.
I don’t think it was a definite red card. It was a red card according to your religious beliefs (Liverpoolity or Unitedity).
However, a tackle like that – that looks like you want to hurt somebody/stop a counter attack in the opponents’ half – when you can’t really win the ball and you do it right in-front of the referee, well – it wasn’t a rational tackle. It was a stupid tackle.
And even if the referee made a mistake, Jonjo’s mistake was a bigger one. He should really learn from that.
It’s fair to say that Liverpool played better than United and showed a lot of promise but because of that silly tackle, Manchester United won.
