It has been reported that Theo Walcott said he wants to stay at Arsenal but only if he gets a lof more playing time, especially in a central role.
The winger said: “I want to be an Arsenal legend. Thierry (Henry) joined the club when he was 22 and I want to become an Arsenal legend like him, playing up front as well, which is a big factor for me. I’ve played on the right wing and had the opportunity to play up front a bit more so I think it’s about time.”
If I was Arsene Wenger, I would have let Walcott play in the League Cup as a striker. Tell him: Go on son, prove yourself.
I don’t think Walcott can play as a striker. Not in this current team, which is based on a lot of intelligent movement and keeping possession. He could be a better version of Gervinho but unlike the Ivorian, Walcott already thinks of himself as a star.
Maybe all Theo needs is a real humbling experience, like the one Henry had at Juventus before he came to London.
Anyhow, I doubt he will continue at Arsenal. As a winger or as a striker.
