The national basketball league (NBA) has decided fight against “flopping”, the “art” of falling down when little or no contact was made in an effort to trick referees into calling a foul. It’s is a form of diving.
The NBA procedures against floppers will involve a postgame review of the play by the league office, rather than an official calling an infraction during the game. Players would be fined if the league determined they flopped. By the way, most fans (65%) would like to see “floppers” being punished during the game itself with a technical foul. It might happen as well.
NBA Commissioner, David Stern, explained: “This is not something that we want to be part of our game”. Former NBA player and longtime league executive Mike Bantom, added: “It throws into question the competence of our officials and even the integrity of the game”.
Well done then. The NBA will use its resources to stamp out an unwanted behavior. Now, it’s over to you football. Punish divers for diving – during the game and after the game. Stamp it out. It’s not something that we want to be part of our game.
