Today at 20:45 CET: Juventus – Bayern Munich.
Also today at 20:45 CET: Paris Saint Germain – Barcelona.
Tomorrow at 20:45 CET: Malaga - Borussia Dortmund.
Also tomorrow at 20:45 CET: Real Madrid - Galatasaray.
These are all great teams with millions of fans all over Europe. They also draw a lot of attention from neutral fans worldwide.
Putting PSG – Barcelona at the same time Juventus are playing Bayern Munich is bad business. Basically Uefa are losing millions of viewers for each game. People would like to see both games live.
The easy solution, therefore, is two different times per game day – at least in the knock out stage. One game at 18:30 and the second game at 20:30.
Personally, I think Uefa should overhaul the entire Champions League format and that domestic leagues should be reduced for financial, sporting reasons and medical reasons. This will allow the knock out stages to be played on the weekend – but that’s a whole new discussion.
